Welcome

Welcome to the website of the Redemptorists in Dundalk. We are a religious community of priests and brothers, living at St. Alphonsus Road, Dundalk, Co. Louth, Ireland.  OUR LOCATION

This mission house of St. Joseph’s was established on 8th September 1876.

history

From 1898 to 1948 this house served as the Novitiate for the Irish province of Redemptorists. From 1954 to 1967 it was the Novitiate house for the Brother novices and since 1973 it is once again the Novitiate house of the Province. We came here to spread the gospel of Christ in this part of the country.

Our methods have changed but our message of “Plentiful Redemption” is still the same.

Living in community is very important for Redemptorists. We are committed to living together as brothers - praying together, working together, supporting each other.

We have chosen, as our Rule of Life expresses it, to put the person of Christ at the centre of our community life and we strive day by day to enter ever more intimately into personal union with him.

Preaching continues to be an important ministry for Redemptorists and some members of the community continue to travel from place to place preaching and conducting parish missions. A Redemptorist preaching and mission team today is likely to consist of Redemptorists and lay people.Redemptorists are increasingly committed to working in partnership with lay people.
